  • 1 black tea with vanilla tea bag
  • 1 vanilla bean (split)
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease your muffin tins.
  2. Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat with the black tea bag and split vanilla bean until fragrant, then set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, sift together flour, sugars, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, buttermilk, pure vanilla extract, and cooled infused butter.
  5. Create a well in the dry ingredients; pour in the wet mixture and fold gently until just combined.
  6. Spoon the batter into prepared muffin tins and bake at 425°F for 5 minutes before reducing the temperature to 325°F (163°C) for an additional 15-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before transferring to a rack.
