  • 2 chamomile tea bags
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (for frosting), softened at room temperature
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream, cold
  • Chamomile flowers for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Steep chamomile tea bags in hot water for about 10 minutes.
  3. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt in a bowl.
  4. Cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy; add eggs one at a time followed by vanilla.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients and steeped tea into the creamed mixture.
  6. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full with batter and bake for 12-16 minutes; cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. For the frosting, beat together softened butter and honey until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream until fluffy.
  8. Frost cooled cupcakes and garnish with chamomile flowers.
