Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 oz extra firm tofu (pressed)
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup non-dairy milk
  • 0.5 cup panko bread crumbs
  • Pinch of garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu between paper towels with a weight on top for 10-15 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. Slice the pressed tofu into 0.5-inch thick pieces and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Set up a dipping station with three bowls: one with flour mixed with seasonings, one with non-dairy milk, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Coat each tofu piece by dipping it first in the flour mixture, then in the milk, and finally in panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat until hot enough for frying.
  6. Fry the coated tofu pieces in batches until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt while hot.
  8. Serve sliced diagonally alongside rice or your preferred dipping sauce.
