Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or cheese of your choice)
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers; sauté for 3-5 minutes until tender.
  2. Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and add ground beef. Brown the meat for about 5-7 minutes until no longer pink.
  3. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper; cook for an additional couple of minutes.
  4. Lower the heat to low, place cheese over the beef mixture, cover with a lid, and let it melt for about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Spoon the cheesy beef mixture into each roll.
  6. Optionally toast the rolls lightly before adding the filling.
