  • 8 oz kunafa dough (thawed)
  • 1/2 cup melted ghee or clarified butter
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 & 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 & 1/4 cup soft mozzarella cheese in water (chopped)
  • 1 cup sugar for syrup
  • 1 cup water for syrup
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water for syrup
  • Chopped pistachios for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the syrup by combining sugar, water, and orange blossom water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until dissolved and simmer for about 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. In a large bowl, mix thawed kunafa dough with melted ghee and granulated sugar until well coated. Spread half into a greased baking dish, press down firmly, then layer both types of mozzarella cheese on top. Add the remaining kunafa dough over the cheese.
  4. Bake for approximately 50 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Immediately drizzle cooled syrup over the hot kunafah and let sit for about 10 minutes before garnishing with chopped pistachios.
