  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 8 slices provolone cheese (4 for filling, 4 for topping)
  • olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat; sauté diced bell pepper and onion for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until combined.
  4. Press half the meat mixture into a loaf pan. Layer with four slices of provolone cheese followed by sautéed veggies and top with remaining meat mixture.
  5. Bake for 45–50 minutes. Add remaining cheese on top in the last five minutes.
  6. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing; garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
