  • 2 cups Basmati Rice
  • 2.5 cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 pound Sirloin Steak (cut into thin strips)
  • 14 oz Crushed Tomatoes (about 1 can)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 small Onion (finely chopped, optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cumin
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • White Queso (for topping)
  • Fresh Cilantro (for garnish)
  • Flour tortillas (optional for serving)

Instructions

  1. Rinse basmati rice under cold water until clear. In a pot, combine with chicken broth and a chicken bouillon cube; bring to a boil, then simmer covered for 15-18 minutes until tender.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté chopped onion (if using) in olive oil until translucent. Add minced garlic, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper; cook until fragrant.
  3. Increase heat to medium-high; melt butter in the skillet and add seasoned sirloin steak strips. Sear for 3-4 minutes per side until browned yet tender.
  4. Gently mix the cooked rice with the sauce from the skillet, top with steak, drizzle with white queso, and garnish with cilantro.
